The Morfydd Owen Letters

Pontypridd Museum

Pontypridd Museum will be the host for a remarkable one-off event where local female actors read live from Morfydd’s own letters. Representing a range of correspondence with key individuals in her life, these performers will breathe life into her memory and allow audiences a chance to hear from Morfydd’s words as well as her music.

Featuring Kimberley Nixon, Katie Payne and Rebecca Smith-Williams.

Kimberley Nixon is a BAFTA award winning actress and writer from Pontypridd. Over her long career she has done both comedic and dramatic roles in equal measure. From Josie in Channel 4’s Fresh Meat and Lush in BBC’s The Tuckers to Shardlake on Disney+, The Salisbury Poisonings, Cranford and the upcoming Mudtown for UKTV. She has a podcast and blog talking openly about her struggles with OCD and motherhood called Kimfluencing My Brain.

Kimberley is an ambassador for the National Autistic Society and the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership. She is also the proud patron of Mothers Matter Cymru based in Tonypandy.

Katie received a bursary for her one person play My Mix(ed up) Tape and is developing it for TV with Olivia Coleman’s production Company SOTR. Writing TV credits include - The Rise and Grifters. Acting credits - Curious Incident Of the Dog in the Nighttime NT, Emmerdale, Little Dogs Frantic Assembly, currently can be seen in Mum Fighter at the Swansea Grand.

Rebecca grew up in Aberystwyth, Wales and trained at RADA. Her theatre credits include Pavilion, Theatr Clwyd; directed by Tamara Harvey; Be Aware and Y Brain, Volcano Theatre; Margaret and the Tapeworm, Triongl (Chapter Arts Centre / tour); Miramar, Triongl (tour); The Eyes Have It, Watford Palace Theatre; Darkness Spoken, Southbank Centre. For Chester Performs: Othello, A Midsummer Night's Dream, As You Like It, Merlin and the Woods of Time, Black Battles with Dogs. Her TV credits include the comedy series Stella, for Sky1 directed by Tony Dow. Her radio credits include for BBC Radio 4, The City of Tomorrow, Hashtag Humphrey Conningsby and Blue Moon Over Poplar.
